NORWAY MAKE THEIR MARK!
The inaugural FIM X-Trial des Nations held in Nice, France last night was always going to be a special occasion, and especially for the Norwegian team who were making their debut at this type of event. Norway earned their place amongst the World’s elite Trial nations two years ago when they won the International Group trophy at the 2010 FIM Trial des Nations held in Poland. This meant that they were promoted to the World Championship Group at last year’s outdoor team event in Italy, when they made the headlines once again by beating Japan for the final top five placing.
With hardly any experience of riding artificial hazards, and certainly no prior outings at this kind of level indoors, the pairing of Hakon Pedersen – Sherco – who recently turned twenty-one years old and Ib Andersen – Gas Gas – who is just twenty years old were certainly in at the deep end. However despite being the absolute rookies and up against the likes of Spain, Great Britain, France and Japan, the Scandinavian duo acquitted themselves well in front of the appreciative French audience. Despite finishing fifth at their first attempt, it is something that the young pairing can be proud of and will serve them well for the future.
